A glycerine explosion at Port Colthorpe destroys a magazine near the east pier. King, in charge of the glycerine, was alone aboard a boat. The blast, heard for miles, shattered the crib and damaged several nearby houses with only fragments of the victim found. Cause unknown.
Report of a knife duel between Annie Simmons and Mary Boules, both described as colored, after a quarrel in front of a Baptist Church. Boules was badly stabbed and gashed in six places including the right eye. Simmons was only slightly hurt and arrested. The broader course of the dispute is not given.

In Gaels on the 30th, the wife of Mr Geo H Lawrence of a son. In Acton on the 30th Oct Agnes beloved wife of Mr Benjamin Nicklin aged 42 years. The funeral yesterday was attended by a very large number of mourners and friends. In Acton on the mat Henry Samuel son of Mr James Goodall aged about 4 months. Funeral at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon.
