Ladder to disaster cited in O P P report
The policing week May 19 to May 25 shows 10 complaints in the occurrence book yet reports a week of peace. Acton O P P notes 224 duty hours and 818 miles patrolled with four traffic stops, 17 warnings for lesser offences, and no court on May 28 due to a holiday. Despite a quiet week, four accidents occurred this year, with Acton O P P reporting 40 town accidents so far. Parking debates hinge on moving unauthorized cars from Legion lots and Presbyterian Church spaces, amid surveys and calls for a parking plan. The piece ends with a caution that careless driving leads to disaster.

Acton decides on Guelph Street amendment withdrawal
The Acton council withdrew a proposed amendment to rezone Guelph Street properties owned by J Ridley J Gay and J McGladrey from residential to M1 industrial after written advice from the Community Planning Branch. The Ontario Municipal Board hearing reserved its decision while staff advised leaving the parcels as R3 with a non conforming M1 use. Mayor Duby criticized the timing, noting the potential impact on individuals and citing a $1500 town cost, a figure councillor Drinkwalter contested.
