Acton council approved installing mercury vapor floodlights at Peuapect Park to aid softball games and authorized applying for a government grant up to 1100 toward a 4568 project. First Holy Communion Held At St Josephs Church
A large congregation attended the nine o clock Mass at St Josephs Church where 22 children, girls in white with wreaths and veils and boys with white ribbons and boutonnieres, received their first Holy Communion. The ceremony featured after school catechesis by the pastor and Ignatius College Jesuit Brothers, followed by a three o clock crown of Our Lady and an inspiring sermon by Father Clifford Day. The event concluded with devotions, music, and the presentation of certificates to the communicants.

Acton Man Killed While Working With Oakville Crew
Robert Bart Holmes died after accidentally touching 24000 volt high tension wires while serving as a firesman with Oakville Public Utilities. He was revived briefly by a safety belt and colleagues before dying at Oakville District Memorial Hospital. Fellow workers Kerwin McPhail and Wayne Kelly were nearby as weather prompted drivers to slow during heavy rainstorms.

Aum High School teams will be relocated to the provincial track meet this Saturday at Seagram Stadium Waterken. At the CWOSSA A meet in Guelph last Thursday John Gay Jr. won the Intex intermediate pole vault Allan Halt set new track records in the intermediate mile and half mile and Dave Ryder took the junior shot put title. All will compete this Saturday at Waterboy.

Car Wreck Leads to Pending Charges After Night Crash
Police stopped a car on Wil low Street just after midnight when it sped off. Officers Rupert and MacArthur chased it west on Mill Street then found the wrecked vehicle against a tree near June Croskin’s Cameron Avenue home. Driver George Williamson and two passengers Alan Smith and Keith Mainprise suffered injuries. an open bottle of whiskey and several beer cases were found in the wrecked vehicles.
