First Communion Observed at St. Joseph's Church
On Sunday May 20 eight girls and seven boys received their First Communion during the nine oclock Mass at St. Joseph's. Parents and Pastor and the Brothers of Ignatius College aided the children in preparation and in the ceremony. Donna ton Braida and David Braida presented a Spiritual Sacrificial Offering at the offertory. Father Morgan spoke brief words of congratulation as the church, filled to capacity, featured seasonable flowers and special music. In the afternoon the Madonna statue crowned in a ceremony at three oclock.

Decoration Day June 3 Parade and service planned
Acton and district residents will gather Sunday June 3 to honor loved ones buried in Fairview Dublin and Pioneer Cemeteries with a parade from the CNR station to Fairview Cemetery and an outdoor service. Mayor Gow will welcome attendees and ministers will take part in the service.

The Free Press notes Acton Quarries Limited builds an automated limestone plant at the former Dolly Varden kilns with a $1.685 million investment. The Toronto Globe and Mail says the plant may start by October and cites 40,000,000 tons of limestone outlined by diamond drilling. Frederick Gardiner, former Metropolitan Toronto chairman, is named president and promises a news release, while hydro officials seek power-line permissions and council approval to run lines toward Churchill Road quarry.

Acton Parks Board heard that May 18 water tests in Dairy Lake show the water is perfectly safe for swimming. The Halton County Health Unit reported the results as quite satisfactory at the Wednesday meeting.
