Ford Officials Outline Labor Needs for Oakville Plant
Ford of Canada public relations chief Gordon Garbutt said the Oakville plant could employ about 3000 people by October or November if on schedule. Labor will come from Trafalgar Township Oakville Bronte Toronto Hamilton and nearby areas with many commuting from distant towns. He noted the trend toward workers traveling to factories and that layoff drift during model changes has lessened in recent years.

Life-Long Acton Resident John Kennedy Dies
John Joseph Kennedy longtime Beardmere and Co. employee and Acton resident died May 13 at his daughter’s home in Toronto aged in his Dist year. He was born in Limehouse to Donald and Mary Kennedy and survived by son Harold of Detroit and daughter Margaret Mrs John Wilson of Toronto, plus two sisters. Funeral held with Requiem Mass at St Joseph’s Church and interment at Dublin Cemetery. Pallbearers included Neil Gibbons Lawrence Gibbons Frank Gibbons John Jomuth John Wilson and Michael Wilson.
