Old-time notices and a storyteller’s parenthetical history
The piece recalls an ancient ledger entry showing 11.70 received on Nov 25 1667 from W I Btorey for the Wesleyan Methodist Church pipes. It glances at 1884 Georgetown ads by Page & J Young and muses on J Young’s 1820 property subdivision naming streets after British figures, ending with a personal note on enjoying old law books.

Local magistrates and old law book heirloom in Acton
A historical note recalls the dwindling number of Justices of the Peace in the county, naming Cameron Nicklin Moore and Kenney as survivors. It links Morres and Brown to Sunday School leadership, mentions Acton Methodist origins, and describes W. C. Keele’s 1851 Upper Canada law compendium.

Fragments of a School Week and Theatre Talk
A garbled diary like entry recounts varied scenes from a week including theatre on Broadway, long Musikel shows in New York, a long 23-man conversation, and a humorous exchange about someone refusing to let his wife drive. It notes weather not printed and a talk on women’s mystery society, museum of antiquities opening, and school day tensions.

Education as defense against counterfeiters and vulgar taste
The piece argues that people misjudge genuine money and humor and beauty due to imperfect education. It warns that lack of values leads to accepting spurious banknotes and tasteless jokes, urging sound discernment through proper instruction.
