Scout Mothers Donate to Navy League and Training Funds
The Scout Mothers Auxiliary held a regular meeting at Mrs. H. Thorarinson’s home. President Mrs. E. Masters presided as reports were read and a $5 donation to the Navy League and $5 for commando training expenses for the Scouts at Blue Springs were approved. Social hour followed with a competition won by Mrs. Masters and Mrs. Evans. lunch was served. A vote of thanks was given to the hostess, and Mrs. Masters offered her home for the next gathering.

Victory Loan Quiz Contest Selects Winners
The elimination contest for country honors in the Victory Loan Quiz saw Bradley of EA 1 and Homby win the senior group while Walter Senecant represented Halton Schools in Hamilton for the Division Championship. Contestants hailed from Halton Peel and Wentworth counties with Acton Milton competitors James Dills Ray Everdall and John Mowat. The final competition will be held in Toronto on Saturday.

At Thursday meeting the Acton and Vicinity War Service League reported receipts of 36112 and expenditures of $201.42. Donations led by the Victory Minstrels at $384.09 and the Victory Orchestra $55.12 supported overseas boys. Expenditures included $277.52 for cigarettes and $59 for salvage. The secretary was told to thank the Garagemen's Association and prepare another overseas box. A Kinsmen's Milk for Britain Fund letter prompted a potential tag day. Two funds donations were sent to the fund.

Plane crashes on farm field during forced landing sequence
A single engine plane failed to take off and crashed into a fence on Mr. E. N. Brown’s farm while another repaired machine completed a take-off. Brown had rolled the field for emergency starts and three planes have used his fields for forced landings in six months. The injured pilot escaped with a shaking, and the second plane was moved by truck for repairs.

Friendly Circle I Group Hosts Special Mothers Day Meeting
On Sunday the Friendly Circle invited mothers and friends to a special Mothers Day gathering. President Mrs Richardson opened with a poem Brothers of Mine. Dorothy Simmons sang My Mother's Song and a duet Face to Face was performed by Mrs Waterhouse and Miss Dawkins. Alzina Gibson read, Bennet taught the lesson on the disciples and the healing of the lame man at the temple gate. Refreshments followed served by Mrs Waterhouse's group.

Mil ton officials from Mayo, Georgetown, Oakville and Acton met with rural representatives to organize emergency farm labor for Halton. They warned of looming food shortages and urged rapid setup of urban centres to provide harvesting seeding and haying support with trained tractor operators available. Farmers will pay about fifty cents per hour for tractor operators and forty cents for casual help, with transportation supplied by the host farmer.
