Rockwood Ulster Exchange Replaced by Digits 85
A new seven digit phone numbering plan under All Number Calling will replace ULster Exchange letters with digits 8 and 5. Rockwood's Ulster 6-1234 becomes 856 1234 as Direct Distance Dialing expands across 60 million North American telephones. The change addresses letter-to-digit limitations and aims for distinct numbers nationwide.
