The Twelfth Annual Halton County Music Festival showcased Acton Schools winning four trophies two shields and multiple individual awards. Norma Marcellus of Milton High School led with 95 marks and a gold medal in the High School girls solo under 16, while Acton Public School claimed many choir trophies. Adjudicators praised Acton choirs for strong performances though urged more natural stage presence.

Halton Presbytery condemns sweepstakes at Burlington meeting
The Halton Presbytery of the United Church in Burlington passed a resolution denouncing all forms of gambling for charitable or religious purposes. Presented by Rev. H. S. Piddes, it also endorsed the Lord's Day Alliance Ontario campaign and the government's stance not to interfere with existing Sabbath observance laws. The group urged enforcement within reason and elected Rev. 8 Lovering as chair with Rev. John T. Heslop and Rev. A.O. W Foreman as treasurer and secretary respectively.

The program included Empire Study by Miss W MacMillan and a talk by Mr E J Moore on Getting More Fun Out of Life followed by Anne Sutherland's poem In Soap Suds Land. The Boys Choir directed by Miss T F Hunt performed the festival winning piece. The ritual closing, flag ceremonies, LO D O Orders and Legion banner completed the colorful ceremony.]

Society Hosts Holy Name Smoker for Acton Tanners
