County Road Rate Set Same as Last Year by Council
The 1935 county council meeting reviewed road work and approved a 7-10 mill levy for County Road purposes as in 1934. Engineer Roy F. Smyth noted 340 miles resurfaced with crushed gravel and extensive use of relief labor. Discussions supported a county led system over provincial control and approved museum space planning and related county building improvements.

At a monthly meeting of the Public Utilities Commission in Acton, Commissioner B G Arnold and Chairman G King oversaw approval of the hydro plan to promote sale of electric ranges. Ontario Hydro Commission acknowledged the local rebate request and agreed to act quickly. Sheds Fire Destroys CN Rail Freight Sheds at Guelph
A fire swept through CN Rail freight sheds on Edinburgh Road Guelph early Sunday destroying multiple sheds and causing extensive damage. Strong winds hindered efforts and forced nearby residents from their homes as three garages and several vehicles were damaged. Firefighters saved three trucks and a car before structures collapsed.
