Reed, presented by representatives of Cities Service Co Limited after a CFRB broadcast featuring Acton. The portrait honors the mayor’s years of service to the town. The council approved surveying town hall and adjacent land for a possible new municipal building.

Acton Council approves loader purchase and sewer funding
At a special meeting Acton Council authorized buying a loader with electric controls from Halton Manufacturing Co. Ltd for 1900 plus tax and delivery. The mayor and clerk were empowered to sign. The meeting also transfers 12 000 annually to the Acton Capital Sewer account and opens the Capital Sewer Account in the Bank of Montreal.

Esquesing Appeals Levy For High School Purposes
Esquesing Township would appeal the assessment levy for school purposes at a Monday meeting of the North Halton high School District Board. The secretary was instructed to pursue arbitration. Burlington and other municipalities faced disputed amounts and the board approved payments and purchases including seeds and a cultivator. Salaries for high school teachers were set at 2500 with staff adjustments to take effect September 1, 1951.

Police recover stolen car after radio call in Acton
Just 15 minutes after hearing a radio call about a stolen car, Acon Provincial Policemen spotted the vehicle and chased it through Acton. They arrested Garry Harding, 16, and Lloyd Dyer, 18, both of Toronto, who were turned over to Toronto City Police.

Last Saturday the Friendly Circle hosted a Shamrock Tea at Rev and Mrs Currey's parsonage. Guests signed the guest book and a baking table in the study drew attention. A green candy display by Mrs Gordon Johnston and spring flowers decorated the dining room while tea was poured by Miss Sf Benne.

Prodigal Suitcase Found and Returned by Honest Finder
A lost suitcase carrying papers was found near Crewson's Corners after a highway mishap between Kitchener and Acton. Police traced the owner via a Free Press notice, and Mrs. J. Airdrie gathered scattered items and handed them in. An express parcel later arrived with a reward offer for delivering the items to Mrs. Airdrie.
