A major dam break near Acton caused a massive flood with about 25 million gallons of water and sludge, flooding the municipal water system, washing away a second dam, and damaging bridges. Georgetown Wins Group Tie in Provincial DB Hockey Round
The Georgetown Intermediate DB Hockey team defeated Fergus 5 1 to stay in contention for provincial honors after winning the final group game last Friday in Fergus. Georgetown scorers were Shropshire Chriss Nash and Patterson with Hilson scoring Fergus. Earlier Georgetown and Port Elgin drew 7 7 in Galt with Georgetown leading early before Port Elgin surged back. A special train carried Georgetown fans and the Girls Pipe Band provided entertainment. The next game is Friday in Owen Sound.

Two Cases Heard In Milton Court On Wednesday
In Milton police court on Wednesday Henry Andrews was fined 50 dollars plus costs for failing to stop at an accident scene. Robert Henry was convicted of cruelty and offered a choice of a whipping not more than ten lashes or thirty days in jail.

A W Fosbury gave the closing prayer before a luncheon and expressions of thanks for the hospitality and program.

Two Acton Ministers Named Moderators of Their Churches
Two Acton ministers hold high posts as moderators within their churches. Rev Forbes Thomson of Arian was elected moderator of the Guelph Presbytery for a two month term during the Know Presbyterian Church meeting in Guelph. He succeeds Rev Wo Youre Fergus. A month earlier Rev A OW Fae bury was moderator of Halton Presbytery of the United Church. Acton Row has two resident ministers in these positions.

The Halton Seed Fair and Bacon Show attracted many exhibitors on Saturday in Milton and Georgetown. Entry totals included 44 Halton hog producers and 400 plus grain entries.
