Haltonian Roots of Marathon Fame in Early Canada

It recalls his Toronto match against Alf Shrubb, training at Stewarttown, and the 1908 London Games where he did not finish, with Durands and a US winner noted. It reflects Longboat’s decline and eventual poverty on the Indian Reserve.
