Honorable Kelso QC attorney general of Ontario will officially open the Wilton Registry Office on Tuesday March 19 at 5 pm. The event includes a reception and remarks by notable officials Thomas Millward warden Stanley A. Allen Ox warden T. Allen Sage architect C.K. Dunker contractor W. E F. Mattocks registrar Col. Paul Potesoh president registrars association Hugh Donald Inspector and other county and provincial officials.
J Natareve lawyer for motor vehicle licenses reports only 80 percent of last year's sales remain. To date 1 302 car 163 truck and 78 trailer licenses issued. Mr Margrave notes a steady flow of applicants expected until the Thursday deadline.
A car driven by Carl Kirkwood of Glen Williams and a car from Acton were in a minor Main Street collision Monday night. Both vehicles sustained $50 damage. A Toronto resident received a $78 fine in Magistrate's Court Tuesday for impaired driving, with police reporting the arrest on Monday and the driver jailed in Milton pending further proceedings.
The Duke of Devonshire chapter met at Mrs A. Long's home with Mrs B. Mowat presiding. They discussed business and plans for a china demonstration. Mrs Long presented a gift to retiring regent Mrs J Whitham. Three new members joined. Mrs Buckner spoke on Empire and World Affairs. Joan Wilson of Guelph and Miles Helen Landsborough performed two solos.
The Acton United church Woman's Missionary Society held its regular March meeting at Mrs H R Force's home on Tuesday. Miss M 2 Bennett preached on Lent after reports from the secretary and aides. Mrs Lid ken led the service New Roads in Burma, with readings by Mrs Carlow. Mrs Shoemaker received a memorial certificate for her late mother, Mrs Edward Snyder, and the gathering closed with Mizpah benediction.
Requiem Mass for Otto Lesniewich was sung at St. Clement's church Preston. Interment followed in St. Clement's cemetery. Survived by wife Dora Wakar and children Anne Julie and Martin. He was aged 79.
The Junior track team trained by regular Y MLCAS members eyes the Y's Men’s club meet in Kitchener on Saturday March 16. The regular squad has received new black and gold uniforms. A platinum fox has been shot on a farm in Puslinch. Officials note grey white foxes are numerous in the area and staff think the strain originated when foxes escaped from fox farms.
At the PUC meeting Secretary McGeachie said no boys had been apprehended for damages and the commission discussed repairing the disposal plant lights. They considered buying a used Ingersoll Rand air compressor to replace a costly new unit and planned tenders for bulk tanks gas and oil.
The Acton board approved an extra 10,500 for requisitions, rescinded an earlier 674,700 act and submitted a reduced 64,200 request. By passing on the painting schedule, arranging cloakroom space, and authorizing door hinges, it also noted receipts of 6 and 192 in fees and 31,107 43 in fire relief for Capitol expenses.
The North Halton Urban Board approves a three council fire service agreement covering Ace Miltad Caren etu area. Talks include a 20 percent cost increase trigger, stand by fees of 800 dollars, truck purchases, and shared maintenance to unify rural and urban fire protection across three councils.
About 60 members from Ebenezer Fate Yn Mills and Artoedu tated churches attended an Ackell United church gathering. Rev Bene eat EO Dankier presided at Dublin Street United church in Guelph as discussions resolved interlocking church problems and better acquainted attendees after the session.
Lakeside chapter of the LODE was invited to have its standard presented at the opening of the provincial conference in Danlton in April. Standerd bearer and delegate Swill de Mask, George Somerville, and Mrs Marguerite Kotunron attended the meeting Tuesday. Mrs Norton offered for the installation of new officers, Alget presented to the retiring regent, Mrs Sanny Jacque. An article comparing Husain education to the local system was read by Mrs Rae West. Habie's gowns were brought for a layette. knitted vests to be delivered at next meeting. Euchre prizes went to Mrs Jacque, Mrs Norton, Mrs Tom Watson, and Mr F.E. Footitt.
The Knox Presbyterian evening service was led by the Daughters of Knox with the junior choir performing Living for Jesus as the opening hymn. Guest speaker Mrs Ann Carro of Oakwood Presbyterian Toronto chaired the Toronto Kingston Synodical Women’s Missionary Society. Leaders included Mrs Bern Van Fleet, with scripture by Mrs Ted Hansen and prayers by Mrs Herb Price, Mrs Paul Lawson and Mrs Fyfe Somerville. Rev Andrew McKenzie gave the benediction. A luncheon followed.
Chesley defeats Acton 7 to 2 as Chesley dominates with goals from Meratall, Lawson, Trushinski, Maxwell, and Davidson. Acton visitors, cheered by a large crowd, struggle after lay off. next game set for Friday at Paisley arena and Milton arena rematch to follow.
Mareh De Saturday evening Mrs Ken Nevills of Orten held a perfect cribbage hand counting 20 in a two run game with her husband. She was dealt clubs five spades five hearts five diamonds five of clubs and the turn produced a five. This rare hand comes after twenty five years of games with husband and is noted as a historic high for the couple.
The sixth annual Mother and Daughter Banquet at the YMCA hosted by the Y Ladies’ Auxiliary on March 7 featured remarks on friendship by Mrs Buchanan and a talk by Mrs Butterfield about a contest inspired by Mia Eisenhower. Slides from Europe were shown, a toast followed, and a turkey dinner was served by the Y’s Men’s Club.
Three Basic English classes were held at the high school Monday evening followed by the annual reception for the New Cancadiana by members of the Duke of Devorshion chapter. Staff Oscar Drijber and Wilfred Wilhelm taught the year with changes as students moved away or joined the district. Three students Sien Ancker Wilhelm Roes and John Gref eneder took advanced lessons and wrote exams. other classmates included Ruth Lippensky August Lipensky Frank Grondinger Tony Gronginger William Macke Taeke Mansman Anne Stkma P. Nemink Carla Grife eneder Alexander Puteal G. Barac Monikas Pommerenko and Corrie. A tea table was set in the staffroom as LO.DE chapter members served sandwiches and cookies during the chat. The closing social evening is an annual project for the chapter.
