Knox Guild hosts St Patrick's social tea in the classroom Monday evening March 16 at eight o'clock. A good musical programme is planned and all are welcome. Admission 17 cents.
Sir George Paish told the Canadian Club in Toronto that a great trade expansion begins now with the return to the gold standard in England and the Commonwealth. He urged policy changes to restore credit and reduce trade barriers, predicting high wheat prices will boost Canadian agriculture and overall prosperity.
The Acton Troop held its first meeting in the new club room in Knox Church basement. Scoutmaster R. Bob Thomas and Assistant Scoutmaster Harry Wool praised the setup, noted past struggles of other Toronto troops, and received a framed picture titled The Pathfinder. Sixty nine members attended, with seven patrols active and two more forming as Ferris led the reorganized unit.
In Georgetown Police Court Thomas Sykes faced charges from Chief Jackson for illegally purchasing liquor from an unauthorized person. He pleaded guilty before Magistrate Moore and was fined $60 plus costs. a warrant for his arrest remains.

The Ontario Legislature approved stronger beer laws last week by 79 to 26. Conservatives backed the measure while Progressives and Independent Labour opposed. Liberal members largely voted against with a few exceptions.
Obituary notices report the deaths of Mrs. John Coulsan of Oustic aged about seventy seven. The funeral from her son James's residence at Oustic was held at St. Patrick's Church in Acton with interment at Oustic Cemetery. Also noted are the deaths of Frank F. Bescoby of Milton aged fifty two and Mrs. Thomas Gowdy of Guelph aged about eighty one, with services at Grace Church and interment at Evergreen Cemetery. Additional notices mention Joseph, Thomas, William, Alexander, Samuel, Edward J., and others as surviving relatives and the long-time community roles of the deceased.
The High Sohor Literary Society hosted an open lecture by Professor G. A. Cornish of Toronto on Our Greatest Travellers. The talk featured colorful lantern images, a humorous yet informative delivery, and a list of twenty six birds with accompanying stories.
