Piano duets by Mrs F A Oakes and Miss Margaret Brown accompanied a Nightingale reading by Elva Pearen. The meeting closed with the National Anthem.

Acton Council Receives Splendid Auditors Report

Seret W Coles Receives Canadian Efficiency Medal
Acton resident Seret W Coles is awarded the Canadian Efficiency Medal and Clasp for 40 years of continuous service. Born in Bristol England he joined the Somerset Light Infantry in World War I and served overseas. After returning to Canada he worked with local regiments, the Navy League, Red Cross, War Service League, and the Canadian Legion while supporting Acton Boy Scouts and community groups. His son Ernest Coles serves with the Canadian forces.

Six Year Sentence for Assault and Robbery Case
Charles Ferrier aged eighteen was sentenced by Magistrate Woodliffe in Milton to six years at Kingston Penitentiary with hard labor for assaulting Edward Cates and robbing him of one hundred dollars. Ferrier admitted striking Cates with a jan axe after sleeping with him. Cates remains in hospital with paralyzed arms and will require ongoing care.

Soldier Injured In Motorcycle Crash Near Ditch
A soldier stationed at Cum Bardete sustained a fractured collar bone and facial injuries when his motorcycle went out of control on Monday afternoon and skidded into a ditch.
