Montreal search for Walter Nevin sparks new police alert
A man identified as Walter Gerald Nevin, a go boy from the Ontario Reformatory, Guelph, remains at large after escaping in 1923. Nevin, convicted of forgery in 1922 and later linked to robberies in Los Angeles in 1923, was released from California prison in 1927 and is believed to be at large in Canada or the United States. Junior Oratorical Contest and Debate At Local High School
A large crowd attended the High School program despite bad weather to hear the Junior Oratorical Contest and a debate on postwar dictatorship. Norman Braido won with a speech on Sir Wilfrid Laurier, Hazel Wilson placed second with Sir Adam Beck, and Braido will represent Acton School in the next inter-school round. The debate, judged by Mrs. J A McNiven and others, ended 117 to 107 in favor of the negative.

Round table discussions followed with strong opinions aimed at improving public school training for children. The Property Committee reported satisfactory arrangements and the Finance Committee presented its third report listing several small purchases and bond details.
