Lake Trout Surpasses Expectations in Algonquin Catch
A 90 lb 2 oz lake trout landed by J M McDonald in Algonquin Park is described as the finest specimen seen, with other catches including a 34 lb fish and smaller ones. The huge fish took over half an hour to land from a canoe using a trolling pole and copper line, without a net or gaff.

Convicted of Chicken Theft in Milton Court
Paul Rycacas appeared before Judge Munro in Q County Court Milton and was found guilty of breaking and entering the chicken house of Patrick McCristall Acton on March 10. He received a suspended sentence after his arrest following the midnight entry. the cane incident occurred in Acton Police Court, with Rycacas released on bail of 500 dollars. Mrs McCristall spotted the entry, and Chief McPherson found him in bed clothed and intoxicated. Crown Attorney Dick prosecuted for the Crown. LeRoy Dald defended.

MacRae resigns from Acton Library Board
At the Acton Library Board meeting on Monday evening D A MacRae tendered his resignation as Secretary and Treasurer to take effect in August. The board approved his service and wished him and Mrs MacRae happiness in their new community. The board accepted J K Gardiner’s gift of gold leaf window signs and door plaques and discussed purchasing a Churchill Historical Booklet. A plan for interlibrary exchanges with Milton and others was debated for next meeting.

Picnic at Dublin School Hosts Annual Society Picnic
The Literary Society and School Bec held their annual picnic yesterday at the Dublin school grounds and Mr Donald Waldte’s adjoining property. Winners in many events included Junior Boys under C Hay Webster and Junior Girls under 6 Lorraine Mullin, with various races and games such as Three-legged Race and Kicking Shoe. About one hundred attendees enjoyed lunch prepared by the lunch committee.

Georgetown Cyclist Struck On Highway Near Norval
Keith Bence aged 17 of Georgetown was injured when his bicycle was struck by an automobile on No. 7 Highway between Norval and Georgetown. The car, driven by William Cooke of Georgetown, was traveling in the same direction. Spence, reportedly nearby, was thrown about feet when the collision occurred.
