A week from Sunday on June 25 Acton will celebrate becoming a town officially since the start of the year. The event honors Acton growth from village to town with residents and past friends invited to attend despite the loss of speaker Rev. A C Stewart who served nine years in the community.
The new county assessment, rolled out in Hatton to equalize county rates, proves costly and unfair to many municipalities. Only three of six unfinished towns completed their assessments in five years, while those finished defend the system. The North Halton High School Board seeks fair school cost sharing, and a Court of Equalization may be demanded if delays persist. A $1000 monthly fine for delays is suggested but unlikely to gain general support.
