The story also recalls George Clephane’s death in 1851 after a horse accident, his sister’s hymn The Ninety and Nine, and his burial in Fergus. The piece closes with news that Col John McCrae birthplace society seeks funds to restore his Water Street house in Guelph, noting 10 percent of funds come from Guelph and area and about $10,000 is still needed.
