New Wage Rate For Wool Combing Employees
The Wool Conming Corporation of Canada Limited and the Textile Workers Union of America announce an amendment to the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Starting rate increases by three cents per hour for new employees, with three months service earning the full rate, replacing the current nine month requirement. Effective June 1, the provision applies to all employees regardless of sex.

Farewell Sermon Marks Rev Wallace Fiftieth Year in Ministry
Rev W H Wallace preached his farewell sermon at the Baptist Church of Acton after three years as pastor. The service honored his fifty year ministry with a large congregation, assisted by Rev Fosbury and Rev Anderson. The minister urged happiness through a fuller conception of Jesus and leaving with fellowship among ministers and townspeople. The event closed with a benediction and the hymn God Be With You Till We Meet Again.

The Acton Branch of the Canadian Legion hosted its second annual race meet with a record 30 horses on track. Despite fine weather, turnout was smaller than last year, and notable performances included Super Vola leading the 2.22 class and Lucy Bradford sweeping two firsts and a third in the 2.28 class.
