Gas mains installation starts in Acton on Churchill Road
Crews from United Suburban Gas Company Ltd. laid nearly half a mile of pipe in a single day as gas main work began in Acton along Churchill Road. The project continues this week in the eastern town area with gas expected to be piped soon. The trunk feeder line progress runs below Limehowse toward the Milken to Georgetown line and will connect at Churchill Road just south of Glenles.

Tried Break-in End Up in Jail
Two Acton youths Gerald Rogers age 21 and Harold Oakley age 25 were convicted of attempted breaking and entering after attempting to break a window at Ledger’s IGA downtown. Witnesses saw them at the rear window, police arrested them, and magistrate Langdon remanded them in custody for a week. In a separate report, Langdon-Wallace Leitch of Erin said he fell asleep while driving on No 7 Highway at Silvercreek hill Saturday, with car damage around $300.

Halton county council in regular session accepted the 82 acres of Coulson Farm in Esquesing township bequeathed by the late John Coulson of Hornby. The plan calls for a ten year reforestation program on eight to ten acres of natural woods with future use of the old Registry Office for space needs. Safety drive urged after three Acton weekend crashes
Nine people were injured in three Acton area accidents over the Civic holiday weekend as Ontario safety officials and local leaders urged extra caution. James Perty was hospitalized after a north Milton crash, the Gordon family suffered injuries near Port Colborne, and Tom Kennedy with his wife and two children were hurt in Nassagawega.
