More than 20 000 residents attended the Fergus event as Wellington County celebrated its centennial. A three mile parade featured 12 bands and floats from two municipalities with free daylong festivities. Flames Sweep Across Wheat Field In Royal Winter Fair Farm
A fire Monday afternoon burned about seven and a half acres of wheat on a district farm owned by Royal Winter Fair president S. G Bennett, a mile south of Ballinafad. Fire brigades from Acton and Georgetown helped save a second large wheat field and pasture, with only fence posts burned and no farm buildings endangered. Manager M. Baker. neighbors assisted in beating out the flames.

Drowning at Rockwood Catholic Camp
A nine year old Hamilton boy Frank Donahoe drowned at Camp Brebeuf near Rockwood on Sunday afternoon. His body was recovered from about four feet of water in the Bramess River after guards failed to spot him while swimming. Police and coroner attended. no inquest planned.
