Atlantic salmon eggs shipped from Canada to California

The Canadian Government exports 28 000 Atlantic salmon eggs from New Brunswick to California’s Big Creek hatchery under an exchange deal. The eggs were cooled and kept moist during travel with ice and moss. Watering occurred in Montreal Edmonton and Vancouver and on arrival California reported excellent condition. California supplies Canadian steelhead eggs in return to bolster Pacific stocks. Observers will study success of this Atlantic salmon migration as a sign of a different family compared with Pacific salmon.
