Acton Public School Trustees Meet in Evening Session

The Acton Public School board, including Chairman James Matthews and members W H Storey D Henderson James Moore and J E McGarvin, reviewed last minutes and approved the finance report totaling 217 25 for salaries and expenses. They moved to advance library projects and department alterations under the property committee and allocated 100 to the property fund. The board adjourned.

Halton Beott Act Association Holds Annual Convention

The Halton Beott Act Association met at Milton Methodist Church with Mr. Johnson Harrison in the chair. Delegates from across the county discussed how the act reduced liquor sales and drunkenness, while rural areas showed better results than towns. Officers elected include Rev. M C Cameron president and James Hartley first vice president. Fleming’s list includes Rev D L Brethomr secretary and Austin Wilmott treasurer. Resolutions urged doctors to avoid excess liquor orders and urged licensed druggists to refuse improper orders and for license commissioners to act accordingly.

County Inspector challenged over Canada Temperance Act enforcement

A convention condemns the current Inspector of Licenses for failing to follow Government instructions under the Canada Temperance Act. It urges appointment of an officer aligned with the Act, notes Boott Act success in rural areas, and calls temperance supporters to enforce the law fully to reduce drinking in larger communities.
