Acton Maintains 44 Mills Tax Rate for 1924 By-law Headed
The Acton council prepared Monday evening to keep the 1924 tax rate at 44 mills. Estimates show school expenditures at 11 864.09 with 165 mills raised, waterworks debentures totaling 34318 86, cemetery and park costs, and allocations for street lighting and libraries. The plan outlines the rate components: Schools 16 mills, waterworks and sinking fund 4.8, general debentures and sinking fund 5.6, street lighting 6, notaries and allowances 0.8, Free Library 6, other expenditures 2.7, totaling 48.0 mills.

Inquest Ends Open Verdict on Acton Babe Found Near Culvert
The inquest into the unknown infant found under the culvert near Acton concluded with an open verdict. Crown Attorney Dick led the prosecution but no new evidence emerged. The jury said they could not identify who placed the body or determine natural death.

The Acton local committee plans a major twelfth of July celebration with a parade expected to involve over forty lodges, bands and drum corps.
