The Acton Junior Pipe Band performed at a tattoo in Hamilton and later competed at the Hamilton Highland Games in Civic Stadium. Night in the Royal Connaught Hotel with 18 in the party including Pipe Major Phil Caddick. Michael Ross placed third in juvenile drumming and Andrew Knox did well in a large class. The band later faced class Bj changes and did not win prize money, finishing with a massed band parade.

The room was crowded last Friday as adults and many children prepared for the two week break with a near record 261 volumes checked out by librarian Mrs Watson and her assistants. The new Junior books placement by grade five aims to help younger readers find titles, while staff stocked up for the break.

Police Recover Stolen Car in 24 Hours
A 187 model Ford stolen from Ballantine's garage in Acton was recovered by County OPP within 24 hours. It was found abandoned on Limehouse Road west of Highway 7 with a damaged radiator after 11.30 pm Sunday. Police continue investigations.

Fair Board Plans Regional Cattle Show At Acton Fair

Elizabeth Force is aiming for gold medals at the Guelph summer school. Sharon Bradley started Monday at summer school.
