Beardmore and Co. Ltd. workers totaling 482 years of service retired on Dominion Day. President W. J. Beatty praised the group and explained the compulsory retirement plan while noting industry changes over 40 years. The retirees include Alec Orr 5? years, George Keelan 24, Earl Marshall 38, Fred Anderson 42, Bill Golden 16, Stan Cripps 40, Bob Turner 42, John Spehar 27, Alcide Villemaire 15, Herman Frucer 26, Alec Mann 3, plus G. D. Williamson 18 and Harry Rogers 32 who were not present.

Four Injured in Acton Area Two-Car Collision
A two car crash at the intersection of 2 Siderash and the Sixth Line Nas sagaweve last Thursday evening injured four people. Kenneth McKinnon of Acton and Alexander Spurrell of Rockwood drove the respective vehicles. McKinnon suffered head injuries while Spurrell and two passengers, Gail Spurrell and Linda Spurrell, had various injuries. Both drivers were hospitalized at Milton District Hospital. Const. BR Burke of Milton O P P investigated.

Nassagaweya Township issued 281,100 in building permits for the first six months of 1908, clerk Calvin McIntyre reports. June alone brought 97,600 with several residences a pump house for the Kelso Millen well and a Campbellville Post Office permit boosting the total. The six month total far surpasses 1964 and nears the 1962 record of 1,708,625, driven mainly by Mohawk Railway.

Break-in at Masson Motors Probed. Buick Stolen

June Rain Boosts Acton Farmers During Drought
May rain totalled 13 inches in the Acton area but fell short of expectations. In June the region received 2.98 inches, helping haying progress with 90 percent complete and first cut yields variable. Local statistician Walter Lock notes cumulative rainfall of 72 inches to date, while agricultural rep Henry Stanley warns of drought in eastern Ontario and urges farmers to buy hay now to avoid higher fall prices.
