Acton residents hosted and visited relatives during the long weekend with many trips to nearby towns. Families from Ottawa, Toronto, and Georgetown joined local gatherings while students and staff from area colleges took short trips. the holiday stretch included varying work schedules and mixed store hours.
The June Knox Prosbytenan Church Ladies Aut meeting at president Mire Win Mebaud’s home planned a July wedding and discussed canceling July and August gatherings unless needed. Reports from dinner and wedding were given, readings shared, and a period of prayer held. A reading from Padre Young’s Religion and Life inspired members. The group ended with hymn and Mizpah benediction. lunch and fellowship followed.
Clara Wanless of Lansing died recently. The funeral was held at Oberta-Pacure United Home with burial at a local cemetery. Family members include Albert Kennedy of Yptwid Charben, W Kennedy of Wannipen, and Betty Dace See della iN. The service was attended by relatives and friends as pallbearers carried the casket to the grave.
