A community event at St. Joseph's Church Acton will feature the Sunshine Melody Co. of Hamilton with Bill and Will. Tickets are 2 50 for adults and 1 50 for children. The program includes comedy songs tokes and dancing and runs from 8 30 p m for two hours in the Park.
Acton baseball team snapped a losing streak with a 12 4 road win at Kilbride on Saturday. Chalmers fanned 13 and led Acton with four hits and four runs while Kilbride scored late. Georgetown, Bronte, Milton, and Oakville also featured in a busy league Saturday with Acton and Milton each losing later to drop standings.
Oddfellows and Acton Citizens' Band hosted a Dominion Day picnic at Acton Park. The event featured a band program, a large supper, children and adult races, a cornet short program, and a baseball game between the Oddfellows and the Band won by the Oddfellows.
Three Hamilton youths aged twenty three and twenty four faced fourteen theft charges in Milton court. The spree began in early June with a stolen motor car and included breaking and entering schools and tool sheds across the county and Peel, yielding clocks gramophones coats and contractor tools. Convictions totaled forty two charges with concurrent sentences. one youth received determinate and indeterminate terms for the car theft, while others drew similar terms for Hamilton offences. Magistrate Moore praised constables Cookman and Allan for helping clear the rash of thefts during a ten day period.

The following in the Acton public school promotions for the term just ended. Scholars will advance to higher forms in September with many named pupils promoted to Junior Fourth and Kenlor Third. Many students listed by name, including Annie Holmes Violet Elliott Frances Dill Dorcas Philip La Verne SmytIt, Annie Anderson, Helen Maine, and Norman Anderson, among others, appear in the roster of promotions and trials.
Evening mail train now reaches Acton at 40 p m standard time and post office wickets stay open until eight daylight saving time. Dedication at Baden for Knox Church Youth group attended by 76. Church improvements at St Josephs Acton and Mt St Josephs. Acton rowing club wins medals at Munlan Point with Eugene McPherson and Jim Rosas among victors. Missionary services at United Church highlight India. Buchanan Nephew wedding in Alma Heights with dramatic attire and travel. Blacklock family reunion at Pleasant View Farm draws eighty relatives from several towns with plans for next year.
A vowpuncher ordered a steak at a restaurant. The walter brought it in and the puncher demanded it be returned to the kitchen and cooked. The walter snapped back and the puncher insisted, muttering about a swindle and a daughter.
The Legion Church Parade in Acton drew four to five hundred attendees on Sunday afternoon. Veterans were led by Vice-President J M McDonald and Acton Citizens' Land as they marched from the Park to the Soldiers Memorial on Mill Street. A wreath was placed by Col Brown of Georgetown, and after the Last Post the parade reformed for a service in the Arena. Rev P B Hawyer led the service with hymns and scripture, with proceeds to the Poppy Fund for returning distress.
Acton Athletic Centre hosted Monday events with fourteen bowling rinks and group tennis matches against St George's Guelph. Bowling: McGonchin of Acton led with Greenpraia, Heath's rink from Cinnonge town second, Nisbet third. Tennis: Acton beat Guelph again to clinch the Ontario Tennis Association group. junior and ladies singles and doubles results listed with several close scores.
