A letter from John Py Secorp of Acton dated January 10, 1577 thanks supporters after a heated municipal election. He praises the peaceful conduct, urges harmony, rejects the idea of treating opponents as enemies, and expresses gratitude for friendly relations among contending parties and friends.
The Acton West Grange held its annual meeting in Acton Grange Hall on a Friday evening in December 1876. Officers elected for the year include Worthy Master John Shaw and Secretary R B Campbell, with detailed posts for Steward, Treasurer, Catekeeper, and other roles. A tribute writing desk was presented to Secretary Robert Campbell, with remarks by James Warren and others. The meeting adjourned to January 12, 1877, with notices of upcoming social events and bakery ads in theActon locality.
