County groups contributed to a joyous Christmas at Halton County's new Home for its senior citizens. Local clubs churches and institutes donated gifts food and subscriptions while the Lorne Scots Band and Rev J Le Blair provided carols and a Christmas story. A Hamilton County mayor spoke and Santa Claus distributed presents.

Ruth Cargill Dies Widely Known Nassagaweya Resident
Funeral service held January 1 at Victor T. Rumley Funeral Home in Acton for Ruth Cargill of Nassagaweya township who died suddenly at her Campbellville home. Born in Nassagaweya, daughter of Andrew James Cargill, she lived on the Rockwood line and Eden Mills school area, married James Cargill in 1894, he died 1927, survived by three daughters Mrs Pod McLean Windsor, Mrs Easton Windsor, and Mrs Lewis Guelph, four sons Tom Hamilton, Carl Campbellville, and others in Guelph and Hamilton, plus six grandchildren and a great grandchild. interment in Sodom Cemetery. Reverend Sutherland officiated. pallbearers listed. They belonged to Nassagaweya Presbyterian Church. the family once walked miles to church. She had resided on the same farm for 60 years. Predeceased by a son Chester in 1933.

About 800 school children will hear safety talks by Ro Jo Cooksley and J E Morgan of the Hydro Electric Power Commission at Acton public school auditorium on January 13 morning. The program continues in Rockwood with talks to Rockwood public school students in the afternoon. Canadians spent 3 400 000 000 on food in 1950.

Queen's Honor List Commends Officer
Frt. Lt. Robert E Burn of Hespeler received the Queen Elizabeth's commendation for valuable service in the air in the Pacific theatre. Mrs. Burn, former Joan Somerville of Acton, and Fit Lt. Tree Sale Doubles Annual Acton V's Men Club Project
