The 1948 Acton Council held its first meeting Monday with Reeve F J McCutcheon presiding. Newly sworn officials formed committees including Finance Fire Light and Property Streets and Walks and Park and Arena. Contract talks covered loading machine use for snow clearing and hourly rates for arena staff, with by laws appointing a clerk and a solicitor approved. A special meeting was announced for January 28 to strike the rate and estimates.

Injured Pedestrian Hit After Tow Bumper Breaks
Felix Kucyld sustained a fractured rib and multiple cuts when he was run over after a car being towed broke its bumper on heavy snow roads. He was treated locally before being sent to St Joseph's Hospital in Guelph. The tow vehicle belonged to Archie Kerr.

Administrator named for fifty new Acton houses
P F Myers appointed acting administrator for Central Mortgage and Housing Corporation in Oakville. He will supervise Oakville Acton Georgetown tenants and oversee allocations for fifty new houses on Mason and McDonald Boulevards in Acton. Myers, a Guelph native and former Canadian Army member, succeeds Geoffrey L Pratt. His office remains on Colborne Street, Oakville.

Acton Loses Bud McDonald and Family to Toronto Move
Longtime Acton resident Bud McDonald and his wife Mrs McDonald are leaving Acton after twenty five years to reside in Toronto. McDonald held many local roles including School Board Council Reeve Warden Legion and judge for community work. The community honors him with dinners and praises his service while cautioning Acton will miss his presence and wish them success in the new home and business life.

Acton Post Office set a new Christmas record with heavy mail flow. On the Monday before Christmas the incoming mail required 56 bags, Postmaster F. Terry notes stamp sales up about adS percent, while outgoing mail also hit a high. Santa distribution was managed by Mr Terry and staff despite crowded conditions.

The North Hatton District High School Board held its first meeting at Milton High School on Tuesday evening. Dr C A Martin was chosen chairman and Mr A Dills acted as vice chairman. Workman Falls From Roof At New Theatre Site
Foasid Patterson of 19 Main Street Hammpton, a Welford and Irwin worker, fell from the roof of the new Rows Theatre in Acton on Monday. He sustained injuries to his leg and was taken to Hampton Hospital after treatment by Dr Wire Kenney.
