Acton Public School Board elected Vic Bristow as chairman and Orval Chapman as vice chairman during a regular session Tuesday evening. The board appointed committees for the year and approved leasing a room to Esquesing Township School Board at $100 monthly January through June. Public speaking finals were set for March 18 at Robert Little School.

Police recovered two smashed dual bubble gum machines along the CNR near Ajax crossing Tuesday morning. Acton O P P detachment Constable Nick Falion led the investigation. The machines likely came from out of town, not local merchants, as police continue probing the case.

63 Years in Service Add Extra Police Constable To Increase Local
OPP detachment in Acton expanded with Constable Peter Campbell arriving on New Year’s Eve. Campbell, from Chatham, has served 15 years, starting as a despatcher then patrol. Corporal Ray Mason notes changes in personnel since arrival, with a six man force now costing $33,000.
