Planning Board Approves Church Lease for Sales Lot
The Planning Board approved the Pentecostal church land separation and a 468 foot right of way to the town for street extension east of Peel. It also approved FE Mart leasing property at the Corner of Pratt for a new and used car lot with lighting plans. A zoning by law on off street parking, not yet complete, was discussed with emphasis on keeping the business area viable amid traffic and parking concerns.

Scouts Observe 50th Anniversary Parade and Service

Lunch and Night School Ends With Tea and Displays
Night school classes closed Monday and Tuesday as groups brought in and brewed tea or coffee. Presentations to instructors marked the close of the season with plans for a display of sewing, millinery, upholstering, weaving, metal craft and oil painting guided by Miss Bella Maye Rostell. Lunch was organized under Mrs W J Beatty. the parish hall will host the display next Monday evening.

The Friendly Circle met at Acton United Church with president Mel Shirley Armatrong presiding. Surprise pearls found by local man in oyster and tin
George Barbeau was surprised to find a pearl inside an oyster this week and even more surprised by a second pearl. He bought the tin in a local store and found the unadvertised "pone" Saturday. The pearls are both very small.

A farm on a hill east of Acton suffered a barn fire that destroyed several parcels but saved a herd of 46 cattle and all livestock. Fire chief Newton estimated 20 000 in damages while crews drew water from a creek and kept the road clear as townspeople aided until midnight.

Scottish Reels Night at Acton Parish Hall Draws Big Crowd
The Scottish Country Dance club held a lively evening Friday February 22 at Acton Parish Hall with strong attendance. Reels such as fat and furious and popular dances like Gay Gordons and Dashing White Sergeant thrilled dancers between waltzes and a Burns Supper film. Acton YMCA earned a place on the International Committee World Service Honor Roll for the third year.
