March of Dimes blitz raises funds for disabled care
A one hour canvass by nearly 100 women from six local churches netted $680 for the March of Dimes campaign headed by the Acton Rotary Club. Chief Marching Mother Mrs. J Ledger led six zone captains with volunteers from Acton United, Baptist, Knox, Christian Reformed, St. Joseph and St. Alban churches. Rotarians assisted with transportation and a lunch for the canvassers after final receipts were tabulated at the Dominion Hotel.

Final Cash Winner In Merchants Draw
The final cash winner in Acton weekly draw is Charles Watson of RoR 3 Acton who was drawn Saturday at three o clock. Future winners receive gilt certificates redeemable at participating merchants. Since the first winner in September the series has paid $1,140 in cash across 19 draws. Watson received the prize from Bert Wood, secretary of the Acton Chamber of Commerce.

Train Theft Investigated Near Georgetown
Constable Melvin Harness received a fire alarm trip to Georgetown on a Wednesday to report the theft of a wallet containing 43 dollars and personal papers plus an attempted theft of another wallet. Constable Haresowie tracked a baited States resident suspected of selling stolen items from a detachment to Toronto. the wallet was taken while the man rode in his berth aboard the train. The chase began at 6:45 a.m. in Acton with officers proceeding to Georgetown. the suspect likely left the train at London. Police from the Guelph Detachment continued the investigation.
