Tragic train car crash claims two young lives
On Christmas Eve a car driven west on the Esquesing Township sideroad collided with a southbound CN rail freight at an unprotected crossing near Milton. Brenda Phelps 16 and Michael Wood 18 died in the crash. Funeral services for Wood and Phelps were scheduled at McKersie Funeral Home with interment in Evergreen Cemetery.

Donations Replace Gift Exchange At Greenock WI
Miss Elva Pearen hosted the December Greenock W L meeting with 4 H Homemaking Club girls in attendance. Members donated 50 cents to aid mentally retarded adults, sending 7.50, and planned further gifts to the Victorian Order of Nurses and a fire-destroyed family. The program featured 4 H demonstrations, hand made Christmas decorations, carols, contests, and a forthcoming January meeting at Acton.

A full house attended Ballinafad Community Centre Christmas concert on Friday night. Santa handed out 125 bags of candy to children as Mrs. R. McEnery acted as M D for the evening while the McEnery family mourned the loss of their cousin Mrs. Elgin Sodan in Orangeville Hospital. Funeral was held on Monday. Mrs. Norman Sinclair is recovering well after operations in Georgetown Hospital.
