Actsay monthly sale to be held at Agnew's Hotel on Fair Day January 3 1878. The notice invites buyers and mentions Agnew's location in Acton.

He claims first class workmanship, direct inspection of every job, and cash purchases from Russell & Son allow cheaper prices. The notice solicits continued patronage for the late firm of Gallowa Bros and asserts high reputation for brand and pastry. It advertises bread buns and cakes delivered daily around the village, a steak alvaya on hand, and wedding cakes made to order with satisfaction guaranteed. Credit only to monthly prompt payers. Died in Esquesing on the 2st inst Margery, daughter of Peter Mann, aged 30. Married in Esquesing on the 26th inst by Rev G W Calvert Ben Nicklin of Acton wed Miss Margaret Lasby of Esquesing.

The St Albans English Church Acton held a Tuesday evening entertainment at Temperance Hall with tea from 7 30 and games for those without seats. A canvas show delighted children, a Christmas tree laden with toys impressed all. Rev. Lee received an eight day clock and bracket as thanks, door receipts were about 23 dollars.

The Stewarttown council met after adjournment with the Reeve presiding. Read and confirmed the prior minutes, reviewed Hart & Rawlins accounts totaling 5.13, and considered grants to repair road Lots 9 and 10. A 20.00 payment to Geo Lyons for two thirds of sheep damage and 4.00 to J S Nixon for one sheep were approved. Several payments and a by law to appoint polling places and deputy returning officers were authorized.
The Milton council met at the Court House with the warden in the chair. They opened bids for county debentures and discussed transferring road maintenance to minor municipalities. The council approved funds for Oakville High School and reviewed the Debentures report favoring minor municipalities Trafalgar and Esquesing. They also approved building expenses for the new gaol and noted iron stairs cost comparisons with Oxford.
A requisition signed by Acton ratepayers requests that a respected former Reeve be nominated again for the office of Reeve for the municipality. The letter thanks him for his prior service and pledges support to secure his nomination if he consents.
Letter from W H Storeby of Acton dated December 26 1877 to Ransom Adams G Z Beardmore and 46 others thanks them for the requisition praising public service and promising support for Acton’s prosperity if elected. He explains ineligibility due to being surety for the Village Treasurer and notes a council meeting set for the 21st inst. to discuss lands and election.
