The December meeting of Esquesing Township Council was held Monday with Reeve Wm A Wilson presiding. Debates cover relief and road funds, by law readings for municipal elections in 1941, borrowing authority of six thousand five hundred dollars, and thanks to Reeve Wilson for orderly leadership during the year.

Christmas Carnival Prizes Awarded by Acton Legion
A Christmas Carnival at Town Hall sponsored by Acton Branch of the Canadian Legion drew a fair crowd. Prizes included a washing machine, stove, radios, leather coats, coal, a turkey, geese, and chickens with winners named. Proceeds fund comforts for overseas troops and the British War Victims Fund.

Wellington County War Gifts Fund Spotlight
During the week of the War Effort Committee meeting Wellington County voted 750 dollars to the Greek War Relief Fund and 1300 dollars to the London Distress Fund for bombed cities. A Greek appeal explained soldiers’ lack of pay and home dependents needing support. The county levied one mill on the rate to fund patriotic efforts, raising 35 420 dollars with over 30 000 in hand for war needs. Red Cross support has been and will be extended as required.

Miss Doris MacDonald Honored at Miscellaneous Shower
Last Friday evening Mrs. Amos Mason and Mrs. W G Mason hosted a miscellaneous shower for Miss Doris MacDonald a bride of this week. Friends attended and she received a variety of pink and white gifts. Mrs A B McLean and Mrs W Cooper poured tea and served ices.

Halton Plowmen Elect Officers for 1941
Ross Segsworth of Freeman was elected President of the Halton Plowmen's Association for 1941 at the annual Milton meeting. A quiet wedding was held at the home of Mr and Mrs R M MacDonald Acton Ontario. Their daughter Doris Mary married James Norman Small of Niagara Falls with Rev H L Bennie officiating. The bride wore blue faille taffeta with a Juliet cap and pink rose bouquet. Bridesmaid Eld Brien of Toronto wore blue taffeta with pink carnations. Best man was Donald Sterling of Bracebridge. The couple will reside in Niagara Falls after their honeymoon.

Acton Post Office faces a record year with three days averaging 6000 letters and cards posted. On Monday a mail train unloaded 27 days of mail. Saturday morning brought 23 sacks.
