Dougie Carmichael Injured in Auto Accident
Douglas Carmichael of Hillsburg was taken to a Toronto hospital Saturday after a car collision on No 24 Highway west of Caledon village. He suffered a concussion and a fractured neck vertebrae. Driver W J Hunter now of Hillsburg, an artilleryman in a Toronto unit, and two other passengers escaped injury. Carmichael is well known to local baseball fans.

The Maple Grove Literary Society met at Eramosa with strong turnout led by President Charles McNabb. Acton Public School pupils staged a Friday Christmas program in Town Wall under Miss Rice ketta. Grades I to VIII offered carols Let Christian Men Trejorce Good King Wenceslas and Deck the Halls with solos by Jack Stewart Bill Vincent and Donald Evans. The brass quartet included Landsborough Spellvogel Simp son Gibson. Other numbers featured We Three Kings First Noel and Let Us With a Gladsome Mind. Eramosa Reeve and Councillors Candidates 1940 Meeting
The statutory meeting of Eramosa Township Council in Rockwood was chaired by Reeve D. D Gray with Councillors Wm. J. Pinkney Ernest H. Benham Roy I. Lestie and Joseph Ft Rutherford present. They ratified a pole-sharing agreement between Hell Telephone Co and Rockwood Hydro and approved an early closing by-law amendment for two weeks before Christmas. The clerk was instructed to pursue municipal accounting system reform, a $2.32 tax overpayment rebate was ordered, and highway parking control was discussed to allow a tram lane beside the pavement. Accounts amounting to $2137.00 were paid and the meeting adjourned to January. The Reeve and Councillors announced intentions to seek re election in 1940.
