The Acton council meeting approved a $10 652 13 budget including utility payments and fire brigade insurance. The session discussed daylight savings voting rights, arena roof payment, and a leash on transient traders with decisions deferred to the new council.
A dance is planned at Towne Hall Acton on Friday December 16 by D Company of the Lorne Rifles with Regimental Orchestra providing music. Admission is 25c and refreshments will be served at the booth. This item also notes a December 23 Dublin School Concert and various local activities including a December 16 dance and a Christmas toy drive by St Alban’s Church auxiliary.
Nelson Harmon McArthur aged about 60 collapsed and died at the township hall during a sale event. Doctors from Burlington and Kilbride pronounced heart failure. He served as councillor and deputy reeve, was in Campbellville Lodge A P AM, and survived by wife, son Eric, two daughters, and siblings. Funeral held in Kilbride.

Reeve E Thetford won reeve ship by 224 votes over Nicol as Acton residents participated in the largest local poll in years. Three newcomers, McMillan Lasby and S. M Lasby, join the council. Daylight Saving was defeated by over 200 votes.
The Knox Young People’s Society Guild met Monday under the Missionary Committee with President Loui Brownlow presiding. A programme followed featuring vocal and piano solos, a reading, papers and a Guild Digest, plus a special welfare offering of over fifteen dollars.
Community entertainment announced for Monday December 12 at the Bolton Casino featuring music by the New Harmony Orchestra. Knox Sabbath School Christmas Tree and Concert planned for Monday December 19 at Town Hall with Mrs Moore's class presenting a dramatization of Dickens The Christmas Carol and a silver collection.
Sandy in London saw a sign offering free admission to anyone over 80. He returned home and posted a notice at his theatre saying all persons over 89 will be admitted free only if accompanied by their parents.
Mr. G. H. Switzer, longtime Acton resident and prominent local figure, died Sunday evening at his Main Street home after months of illness. Switzer had been in poor health for several weeks. George Herbert Switzer was a well known community member.
