Rockwood Horticultural Society staged a Saturday show in the Town Hall Rockwood with 390 entries up from 336 last year. Judge Mr. W. W. Simpson of Guelph presided as the list of prize winners in vegetables and flowers ran long with many named growers and varieties.
The publication of Acton's Early Days, recounting The Old Man of the Big Clock Tower, has met with splendid reception. Orders started Friday morning for the October 1 release and continued all week as readers respond to the announcement.

Two cars collided at the Guelph and Water Streets intersection in Georgetown on Tuesday evening. Driver C Davis’s eastbound car carried several passengers including Mrs Podle Ethel Davis and Louise Pryer among others. they sustained injuries but rest at home. The westbound car carried G Sinclair and Elmer Lindsay both injured with Lindsay hit by glass fragment. Chief W G Marshall investigated.

Spontaneous combustion started a blaze that destroyed a barn on Lloyd and Russel Duke's farm southwest of Snelgrove early Sunday. The fire ruined alfalfa and grain crops, farm implements, and tools. Loss is about $10,000 with partial insurance. The Dukes learned of the fire only after approaching their property while returning from a dance.

Seventeen specially built trucks fitted for anti aircraft guns halted in Acton overnight on the Windsor Kingston route. The fleet powered by Mercury 100 horse power engines and Marmon Herrington all wheel drive, painted brown, rested at the Station Hotel before resuming to Kingston for mounting guns and deployment. The display echoed European tensions of the time.
