12 000 Square Foot Thermoid Division Expansion
Construction starts next week on a 12 660 square foot single story building at the H K Porter plant in Acton to house the Thermoid Division moving from the Wool Combing building. Denken Structures Ltd. is the contractor and when at full production 24 workers are expected to be employed, with 10 currently on the line. Tom Shields and Dick Lee will manage the Thermoid division, a unit of H K Porter of Canada Ltd.

A four year old child darted from behind a Gray Coach bus and was struck by a motorcycle Monday morning. He was examined by Dr Arian Moore and advised to undergo hospital observation. Corporal Ray Mason of the OPP Detachment identified the rider as Jack Adams of Guelph.

Five CN rail cars derailed near Acton disrupting line
Early Friday a CN line near Acton Limestone Quarry was blocked when five gravel and empty cars derailed on the No 1 siding east of Acton. A London work train lifted two cars by 2.30 pm and by evening four cars were back on track with the line realigned.
