Town overpower Cut Sole in 18 to 5 softball win
In a league game last Thursday the Town slammed the Cut Soles 18 to 5 as Bus Morton struggled on the mound for the Solers and their defense faltered. Doc Pearen pitched well for Lelshman's team while Gord Huffman hit a home run for the Soles and several Town players cleared the bases. Gigantic leather press arrives at Beardmore Leathers plant
A new press over a hundred tons in weight arrives at Beardmore Leathers Ltd plant in Montreal for unloading and installation. The machine requires 150 HP to operate and exerts 7000 psi pressure, with top and bottom 15 ton sections and transport on two flat freight cars. The current unit already runs 24 hours a day and the new press will relieve pressure and boost output, with erection by Beardmore mechanics.

Women’s Institute Picnic at Eden Mills Enjoys Ideal Weather
Last Saturday the Women's Institute held its Eden Mills picnic with ideal weather and many attendees. Races and ball games entertained, with winners including Mrs Francis Wilds in the Ladies Walking Race and Mrs H McCutcheon in the Ladies Musical Spool Race. A mixed softball match between Baptist Sunday schoolers and the Women's Institute ended with a friendly show of sport and good spirit before departures.
