Drowning at Everton Claims 14 Year Old William Cross
The second drowning in the district this season occurred at Everton on Sunday afternoon. William Cross, 14, son of Mr and Mrs Wm Cross of R R No 4 Rookwood, disappeared while swimming above the Everton dam. His body was recovered by Guelph Fire Department after three hours. Coroner and constables attended. an inquest was deemed unnecessary. He is survived by his parents, three brothers James Douglas Roy and two sisters.

Sugar and Stamps Draw At Acton Crowd Draws Big Prize Night
A large Acton crowd packed the Post Office square for the Acton Business Men's weekly Sugar and Stamps Draw. The night saw 13 prizes awarded in 22 minutes including two 50 lb sugar prizes and a top War Savings Certificate worth five dollars. War Savings Stamps auctions raised funds for the Red Cross with several donors turning stamps back for cash. The next draw is scheduled for Saturday night at 10 09 o clock at the same venue.
