Mourning Service Held Without Absent Minister
Members of the Women Missionary Society of the United Church held a morning service at the church with Miss E Hawthorne presiding and Miss Ruth Nelson reading scripture while the president Mrs Rob Caldwell spoke. Hindley Barn Destroyed By Lightning During Storm
A Hindley barn was struck by lightning near 2:40 AM Tuesday and burned to the ground despite efforts to save it. Grain and hay were lost but the animals were saved as wind shifts redirected the fire away from nearby driving shed and house. Neighbor Mrs Lafleur reports the wind reversal aided containment. continuation noted on page five.

Barn and Crop of William Henry Lost In Flash Fire
A barn and the year's crop on the William Henry farm near Brookville were destroyed by a blaze blamed on an electrical storm. A bull, two cows, several chickens, and the family car were lost. rain failed to stop the fire but the new house survived. William Henry's son John is blind from a train accident and is receiving treatment in Toronto.

Open Wool Market Sees Canadian Board End 1946
The Canadian Wool Board Ltd terminated its activities on December 31 1946 after purchasing most Canadian issues and setting prices by grade from 1942 through 1946. The 1947 wool cup will be an open market with Dominion grading rules applying to fleece wool moved inter provintially and for export and to receipts of Canadian grown fleece wool in registered warehouses.

Mrs Elizabeth Johnston of Hespler was treated at Guelph General with head injuries after a head on collision between a station wagon carrying the Johnsontons and a truck near Moffat on Monday night. George Johnston was also injured but released Tuesday morning. the truck driver Keith Robertson of Campbellville was uninjured.
