Obituary for J Robert Hall Former Acton Resident

Former Acton resident J Robert Hall died in Wingham at 75 after a heart seizure. He moved to Wingham in 1935 from Acton, worked at W H Gurney and Son Glove Works, and was a member of St Andrew's Presbyterian Church and the IOOF Lodge. He is survived by his wife Janet Craig, three sisters, and a brother. Funeral services were held July 29 in Wingham. interment at Wingham Cemetery. Pallbearers included lodge members and neighbors. flower bearers named. Former Storey Glove Co. employees recall him fondly.

Luella Brignall Rites Held In Toronto

Funeral service for Luella Mae Brignall nee Reed was held Friday July 22 after her death July 20 1966 in Queen Elizabeth Hospital Toronto. A former Acton resident born Erin Township 1894 she was survived by husband Harley L Brignall two sons Douglas Antaster and Robert Chatham a brother Harold Reed Oak Ridges seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She attended Runnymede United Church and lived in Toronto 45 years. Rev Jewell officiated. interment Fairview Cemetery Acton.

Acton Golden Age Club extends welcome to visitor

Over 50 members attended the Acton Golden Age Club meeting on Thursday. Mrs. Winn reported to the Council of Women, outlining future work. The bus trip committee announced a trip to Owen Sound on August 17 via Highway 10 returning via Highway 6. Lunch was to be provided by members. a hot meal would be bought. Mrs. Kennedy handled bus tickets. Jim Casburn, once instrumental in organizing the club, visited and praised its growth. He suggested London as a future bus trip destination. Eight tables played cuchre and crokinole with several winners named. July birthdays included Mrs. William Nesbitt. The program closed with a group sing and lunch for all attendees.

Lost keys and bicycle recovered by O P P Detachment

The O P P Detachment recovered a number of lost keys found in the park and a bicycle turned in at the local office. Owners may recover lost property by contacting the police.

Snow Family Reunion Held at Kelso Park

The Snow family annual reunion at Kelso Park on Sunday July 10 drew guests from Winnipeg. Ellwood Snow presided at a business meeting then games and races led by Lloyd Marshall and Stella Snow. Prizes honored young and old with special awards for farthest distance and a 90th birthday celebration for Albert Anderson.

Pioneer Family sculpture model at Toronto art gallery

Visited at the Art Gallery of Toronto the sculpture model Pioneer Family by Josef Drenters of Rockwood is featured. Commissioned for Ontario pavilion at Expo 67, Drenters received 24000 from Ontario Department of Economics and Development to build the work. Belgian-born sculptor Drenters assembles a towering Ontario pioneers monument at his home as part of Expo entries on tour. Other top winner with Mr Drenters was Michael Snow.

Teenage aides aid librarians during summer at Speyside

Grass Fire in Unoccupied Nassaugaweva Farm

A grass fire raced through tinder dry pasture on an unoccupied Nassagaweva Township farm Wednesday night. Acton firefighters halted it using brooms and a water supply from the hoses on the truck. The vacant farm, rented by Rollie Heights, is being cleaned ahead of move in. no one was present when the fire broke out.
