Re Opening Service at Knox Church Largely Attended
Knox Presbyterian Church Acton held a marked reopening on Sunday July 30 after redecoration. Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Canada the Right Reverend A C Stewart M A of Midland attended with his new robe as honor guest. He preached on The Church and True Worship, stressing that strength comes from God and the blood of Christ. Neiv R Forbin Thomason assisted, choir led by Pte E A Hansen sang two anthems and guests included Miss Orpha Farr and Mr Thomas Savage. The church decor features green walls, a burning bush motif, and the motto Nove Tani en Consumebatur.

Two More Acton Soldiers Injured in the Invasion
In Normandy the toll continues as two Acton families learn their sons are wounded. L Cpl Alan Earl Perryman was wounded in action on July 25 while Pte John Chisholm suffers burns in England after serving in France with the Highland Light Infantry. Perryman enlisted in 1912 and has been overseas since June. Chisholm has four years in the Canadian Army and three overseas, with possible toe amputation for burns.

Acton native Tpr. T. E. Dickenson wins Military Medal
Ter. Thomas Edwin Dickenson of Acton aged 20 or 21 earns the Military Medal for a courageous action in Italy. He joined the Governor General's Horse Guards in 1940 and served as a driver mechanic overseas since 1941. His mother recalls a night reconnaissance in which he leapt into a tank to flee German fire, saving his gun from destruction. His brother Harry Dickenson died at Dieppe.

Thirty Day Sentence For Tire Theft In Guelph Court
Delbert F. Cole was sentenced to 30 days in the county jail on two concurrent charges of stealing a tire tube and rim at Eden Mills during a June dance. He confessed to a prior similar theft from Mrs Gray and implicated accomplices including John Hilts and William Mellon. John Hills admitted presence but not theft. Magistrate Watt dismissed his charge.
