Thieves Steal Cash From Red and White Market
Early Sunday morning thieves smashed a plate glass window at C Heffernan's Red and White Food Market in Rockwood and escaped with about $40 from the cash register. Police responded within 15 minutes and set road blocks. the register was found later in Everton Pond. Damage to the storefront is estimated around $300 and insurance coverage is noted. Police continue to investigate.

Car Hits Barn Injures Youth Near Ballinarad
A southbound car lost control on a slippery road near Ballinarad and crashed into a barn. Youth McDowell, age 1 year, was severely injured and rushed by ambulance to Guelph General Hospital. The incident is under investigation by the Halton OPP.

Summertime Board Plans Park Program Attendant Lifeguard
The Acton Parks Board met Wednesday at Prospect Park to prep for summer. They approved 15 new picnic tables, set the baseball schedule, and arranged St John Ambulance Brigade coverage during swimming hours. They renewed the superintendent post, discussed park safety, and authorized signage and tenders for refreshments and a park attendant to possibly serve as a part time lifeguard. The board also explored use of park facilities for first aid classes and crowd management.
