Roy Hutt ten year old son of Mr and Mrs Gordon Hutt of Matin Street was struck on the right side and chest by a large chain that fell from a rack He received first aid from Dr Kenney and was taken to the General Hospital in Guelph for examination and treatment of his injuries

McDonald Crawford Wedding At Georgetown Manse
A quiet Presbyterian wedding was held at the Georgetown manse with Rev. C. C. Cochrane officiating. Crawford of PowWaston and Alex McDonald of Acton married, with Evelyn Edwards as bridesmaid and Joe McDonald as groomsman. Guests wore rose and sand tones, gifts included a silver racket and pearl necklace, reception hosted by Mrs. McDonald, and a dance followed at night. The couple departed amid confetti for Mount Forest and Durham.

Halton Presbytery Elects Dowling Chairman at Milton Meeting
Halton Presbytery met in Milton on Tuesday electing Rev F S Dowling of Burlington as chairman. Other executive members include Rev N J Truax secretary Rev RC Todd treasurer Rev DD A Facey past chairman Rev J Ib Moore Milton convener and Professor Graham of Burlington. Guest speaker Rev Dr J R Mutchmer of Toronto spoke on a Crusade for Christ. A committee was named to promote it under Moderator Rev Dr J H Arnu. Special thanks were given to Knox Presbyterian for use of the Sunday School room. Next meeting is in Burlington in September.

Dominion Hotel Change of Ownership in Acton
The Dominion Hotel on Main Street was sold this week by Mr. Harry Holmes to Mr. J. Royston of Bothwell. Royston takes possession and plans to open by May first. The hotel dates to Acton’s early days and was once a glove factory during Prohibition.

Fire damages Peel Gazette plant in Brampton business block
Brampton police investigated a Sunday evening fire that began in a rear shop, gutting the Masonic Hall and a adjoining apartment, destroying the Peel Gazette plant and threatening the municipal office. Firefighters, soldiers and locals aided in evacuations as machinery and furniture burned. A later small fire was reported at Savage’s Implement warehouse and the era Publishing Co. plant.

Loose Gravel Triggers Pruck Overturn on Mitten Road
A Burns Packing Co truck overturned on a Mitten road Monday due to loose gravel. Two drivers emerged shaken but unhurt aside from scratches. A tow truck from Acton dragged the damaged vehicle back onto the roadway.

The Allied advance in Germany informed Mr. Angus McDonald and family that Pte. Norman McDonald, a prisoner of war, is officially reported safe in Allied hands on April 12. He had written home that he was well and received Red Cross parcels regularly during his months-long captivity with the Canadians.
